    Oberberg Fachklinik Fasanenkiez Berlin

We treat mental health conditions – and support emotional development

Our treatment concept covers a broad range of medical and psychotherapeutic services, addressing almost the entire spectrum of mental health and psychosomatic disorders in children and adolescents.

Our holistic, evidence-based approach in child and adolescent psychiatry

At the Oberberg Fachklinik Fasanenkiez, we are here for our children and adolescents. Based on respect, appreciation, and participation, we work together to understand why and in what way a young person has developed a mental health condition. Individual understanding is always at the centre of our therapeutic work.

    Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy addresses mental health conditions in a goal-oriented and resource-focused way. It helps modify unhelpful behavioural and response patterns. At our clinic, we work with a biographical-systemic CBT approach that follows a holistic perspective. Behaviour, thoughts, emotions, family and social environment, as well as personal life experiences, are integrated into therapy. CBT is an interactive process.

    Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy understands current symptoms as expressions of unconscious or suppressed inner conflicts and developmental blockages rooted in personal history and relationship experiences. The therapeutic relationship plays a central role. It enables patients to become aware of past experiences while opening new ways of relating and experiencing themselves and others.

    Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy focuses on the social context of psychological disorders. Symptoms are understood as part of relational patterns within systems such as family or school. Whenever possible, the patient’s social environment is integrated into treatment. Communication, empowerment, activation of resources, and solution-focused strategies are key components.

    Family Work

Working closely with families is essential to achieving sustainable progress. In addition to regular family therapy sessions, we offer joint parent-child breakfasts, themed afternoons, evening events, and lectures. This allows families to gain insight into our therapeutic work and exchange experiences with others.

    Open Staff

“Open Staff” refers to a structured team meeting in which the patient is present while the multidisciplinary team discusses their case.Team meetings are a central element of child and adolescent psychiatry. They support professional exchange, deepen clinical understanding, and coordinate therapeutic and educational steps.

Our experience shows that Open Staff meetings are highly effective. Hearing how the team reflects on their situation—without the pressure of direct confrontation—often enables patients to listen differently and develop greater acceptance. A key principle is respectful transparency: all staff members communicate in a way that would be appropriate if the person concerned were present.

    Complementary Therapeutic Approaches

    Art Therapy

Sometimes words are not enough to express what is happening inside. In art therapy, patients can express feelings through painting, drawing, sculpting with clay, or working with stone. No prior experience is required—there is no right or wrong. In a protected environment, new forms of expression can be explored, either individually or in groups.

    Nutritional Therapy

Enjoyment is an essential sensory experience that plays an important role in self-care, mental health, and overall well-being. In nutritional therapy, patients learn to develop a healthy and mindful relationship with food and enjoyment. Through group discussions and individual sessions, we support sustainable behavioural change. Cooking and baking together in our teaching kitchen create positive experiences and practical skills. When needed, we also develop food diaries and nutritional plans to support long-term integration into daily life.

    Social Counselling

Changes in school, career aspirations, or living situations often require guidance. We provide counselling regarding school options, career orientation, and support with applications. We also assist families in navigating youth welfare services and other institutions and accompany patients to important appointments if needed. Together, we plan the next steps after discharge.

    Music Therapy

Music creates space for self-expression and connection. Whether writing songs, composing, recording vocals or instruments, or exploring music production, patients are invited to participate individually or in groups.

    Relaxation Therapy

Relaxation is essential for reducing stress and restoring energy. We offer methods such as autogenic training and progressive muscle relaxation. The goal is to integrate relaxation as a lasting resource beyond the clinic stay.

    Yoga

Yoga helps bring body and mind into balance. Through mindfulness training, breathing techniques, and physical postures (asanas), patients learn to reduce tension, calm thoughts, and develop greater body awareness.

    Movement Therapy

Movement supports healing and is an essential part of our holistic understanding of body and mind. Movement therapy provides a protected space for action, play, and experience. Goals include improving psychological and physical well-being, strengthening motivation and self-confidence, enhancing body awareness, and encouraging long-term engagement in physical activity.

    Body Psychotherapy

The body reflects inner experiences, emotions, and memories—often unconsciously. In body psychotherapy, patients learn to perceive and understand their body’s signals. Through movement, breathing, voice, posture, and mindful touch, they explore self-awareness and self-efficacy in a supportive environment.

    Virtual Reality Therapy

Virtual Reality (VR) therapy allows therapeutic exercises to be conducted in immersive digital environments. These scenarios can be individually tailored and repeated as needed. VR therapy is particularly effective in treating anxiety-related disorders and is integrated into regular psychotherapy sessions.
